Restoration Rebuild 2/25/26

We want to share an important update with our supporters.

Work on the Governor Stone is currently at a temporary standstill due to Destination Panama City returning ownership of the St. Andrews School property back to Bay County. Until it is determined whether a new lease will be established or if the schooner will need to be relocated, rebuilding activity is paused.

Please know this: the project is not abandoned.

The Friends of the Governor Stone Board is actively working with the Bay County Commissioners, FEMA, and FDEM to secure a solid, long-term solution that allows the rebuild to continue as efficiently as possible.

Our goal remains unchanged — to fully restore the 1877 National Historic Landmark Schooner and return her to her rightful place as a living piece of maritime history.

Challenges happen in projects of this scale. What matters is how we navigate them.

We remain committed.

We remain engaged.

We remain determined.
