Progress Update 2/17/26

Real work. Real progress. Real commitment.

The rebuild of the Governor Stone National Historic Landmark Schooner is moving forward, and while restoration of a 145-year-old vessel is never fast or simple, significant milestones have been reached.

Here’s where we stand:

90% of damaged wood has been removed

Wood for the new keel and ribs has been secured

Lofting for the design is significantly underway

The frame has been secured, supported, and leveled

The overall project is approximately 30% complete

This work represents countless hours of skilled labor, planning, and dedication. Every beam removed, every rib measured, every plank prepared brings us closer to seeing the Governor Stone strong and sailing again.

Restoration like this is not just repair — it is preservation of maritime history for future generations.

We are proud of the progress. We are grateful for the support. And we are not giving up.
